Depravity
think of this poem as a mind
drifting off the rails of sanity
a sanctuary in Òwò
mutating into a harem of horror
think of an interrupted sermon
as a prelude to incessant mourns
think of salvation as a snail freed
from the consolation of its shell
think of the Holy Ghost's saintliness
as a white fabric smeared by the cruor
of faithfuls freshly morphed into ghosts
in a liturgy of trigger fingers & bullets
think of a family of three butchered in
the mirage of an abattoir they worshipped in
think of Nigeria as a planet of blood-thirsty
reptiles orbiting the axis of extermination
drifting off the rails of sanity
a sanctuary in Òwò
mutating into a harem of horror
think of an interrupted sermon
as a prelude to incessant mourns
think of salvation as a snail freed
from the consolation of its shell
think of the Holy Ghost's saintliness
as a white fabric smeared by the cruor
of faithfuls freshly morphed into ghosts
in a liturgy of trigger fingers & bullets
think of a family of three butchered in
the mirage of an abattoir they worshipped in
think of Nigeria as a planet of blood-thirsty
reptiles orbiting the axis of extermination
